SIA’s Santa Western Short Story Contest

It’s a very well kept secret that before Santa and Mrs. Claus took up residence in the North Pole and started spying on children all across the globe they first met in a dusty old saloon way back during the Gold Rush. However, the details about this very first meeting and subsequent partnership are sketchy at best.

So let’s hear your version! Put on your thinking cowboy hats and put pen to paper, then send us your submissions using the following guidelines:

The conditions for your submission are simple.

Use the form to submit your entry OR email us at Please indicate “SIA’s Santa Western Short Story Contest” in the Headline. Entries must include your name and a title, as well as a word count.

Entries must be received by 11:59PM on December 31st, 2019.

You may submit as many entries as you wish. Double or triple your chances!

Your story cannot be shorter than 1500 words and cannot be longer than 4000 words. Any stories not fitting these length requirements will be disqualified.

Excessive elements of gore, sexuality & violence will cause your story to be disqualified. Aim for a PG-13 rating for your story’s content.

Any stories promoting racism, sexism, misogyny or violence against marginalized groups will be disqualified.
